My "Hot" Dog

The dachshund's got a funny name.
They should come with a bun.
Like hot dogs at a baseball game.
Please, please, forgive the pun.

They're great for goin' through closed doors
And hidin' 'neath your bed,
No dog keeps closer to the floors.
None would I chose, instead.

And how I love their haughty trot
So regal, so serene.
A ballerina, on her spot,
Or, somewhere, in between.
